Don’t blame me if I’m crying over this because I’m not the type of person who readily smiles after being confronted with that kind of situation. I over-think, I get hurt, I CRY, then I try to get back up and smile. That’s how it works for me. Please, don’t judge me, because you don’t know how much it hurts. You don’t know how this emotional roller coaster ride breaks me.

So don’t tell me what to do. I have a head on my shoulders, thank you very much. More importantly, don’t tell me how to feel because I can’t help it if I feel terribly hurt… or disappointed for that matter.

I just needed someone who’d listen…more than anything. Not someone who would question my feelings and dismiss them as unimportant. Not someone who would imply that I am a selfish person just because I was disappointed. Let’s face it. It’s not something that would make our elders proud.  Is it really easier to judge  than it is to understand? Is it really hard to comprehend that it is natural to get disappointed when things do not happen as expected? Putting yourself in someone else’s shoes helps. Let me explain that disappointment is just a normal initial reaction. It doesn’t mean that we’d turn our backs on her. The situation may be disappointing but it will not cause us to hate and abandon her.

We share the same dreams for our family. We share each other’s happiness. We share each other’s pain. Our family gets through life challenges together. We all have a fair share of emotional bruises and scars. And THIS is yet another family life challenge that we’ll survive. We are Ohana. Nobody ever gets left behind no matter how screwed up things may be.
